Our commitment
We aim for the website — the storefront, café menus, customer accounts, checkout, order tracking and our staff tools — to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA (opens in a new tab). Accessibility is part of how we build and review every change, not a one-time project.
What we've done
- Readable colours. Text and controls meet AA contrast (4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for large text, icons, borders and focus rings). Our copper accent was darkened for small text, and nothing is communicated by colour alone — statuses like "Open now", "Sold out" and order progress are always spelled out.
- Keyboard access. Everything works without a mouse, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus ring. A "Skip to content" link starts every page, sticky bars never hide the focused item, and pop-up panels (the bag, menus, drink customizing) keep focus inside, close with Escape and return you where you were. Choice groups such as pickup times and tips use arrow keys.
- Screen readers. Pages use real headings, landmarks and labelled buttons; images have descriptions (decorative ones are hidden); prices, quantities and diet badges ("GF" is read as "Gluten-free") make sense out loud. Bag updates, order-status changes, chat messages and form results are announced automatically.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, errors are explained in words next to the field and focus moves to the first one. Name, email, phone and card fields support autofill.
- Motion and zoom. We respect your device's "reduce motion" setting, rotating announcements have a pause button, nothing flashes, and pages reflow to a single column at 320 px wide or 400% zoom.
- Testing. We check pages with automated tools (axe-core) at desktop and phone sizes, and walk key journeys — browsing the menu, customizing a drink, checking out and tracking an order — using only a keyboard.
Known limitations
Some content comes from other companies. We choose accessible options where we can and offer an alternative for each:
- Live shopping video is streamed through YouTube or Facebook. Captions and audio description depend on the streaming service and the stream itself; live auto-captions may be imperfect. Every product shown on a stream is also listed in text beside the video, and you can always call us about anything you saw.
- Consultation booking for Hitt Holistics may use an embedded Calendly scheduler. If it's hard to use, call (318) 387-8446 and we'll book for you.
- Maps are embedded from Google Maps. Our address and a plain "Get directions" link are always shown as text.
- Card payments are processed by Intuit QuickBooks Payments. The card fields are our own accessible form fields; your details are sent straight to Intuit. You can also choose to pay at the counter when the store allows it.
- Photos and older posts added by our team may occasionally be missing a description. Tell us and we'll fix it.
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, with VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS, and with browser zoom and text-spacing settings. It relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript; browsing the shop and menus and sending the contact form still work if JavaScript fails to load.
Feedback and formal complaints
We welcome feedback. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what got in the way (and, if you like, the device or assistive technology you use). We'll reply within two business days with a fix or a way to get what you need. If you're not satisfied with our response, please ask for the owner — we take every report seriously.
